Designer Saundra Saulnier – Parisian Chic Meets New York Street Cool

Posted in Fashion with tags , , on April 26, 2010 by Alan + Mei-Mei the pug

I was very fortunate to met the super talented Parisian designer Saundra Saulnier in Los Angeles and was immediately impressed by her unique creative vision in fashion & style which is “ Sexy, Sleek & Simple”. Her most recent collection says exactly just that!

Mademoiselle Saunlnier knew since she was a little girl that she would be a fashion designer. Taught to sew by her dressmaker grandmother, the French Canadian native designed and sketched all of her clothes, took classes in art and pattern making, and studied the world of retail to gain a comprehensive understanding of the diverse aspects of the fashion business.

After been the design director for various design houses such as Esprit de Corps, Bebe Los Angeles…etc. in 2007 Saundra started Ultrakat Productions Inc., a full-service design consulting company with clients worldwide. She also launched her SZ brand, a sleek, sexy, simple, low maintenance clothing collection for ‘women on the go’ of all ages.

“Fashion is an adventure of joy and an expression of self. Clothes call to an individual and connect you creatively to your soul. To design the timeless favorites that one pulls out of their closet repeatedly; that a person knows makes them feel and look their best and fuses into their way of living, is rewarding as a fashion designer.” Mademoiselle Saunlnier said.

Her most recent collection featured many of the “Essentials pieces ” that every fashionistas should have in their closet! Imagine you had to travel to Paris for couple days with just one of your Louis Vuitton duffle bag, just bring couple of Mademoiselle Saunlnier’s “SZ Collection” pieces, mix it, layer it & it creates many looks for each occasions in your trip! Her “Sexy, Sleek & Simple” separates is perfect for the girl on the go!

Posted in Celebrity & Entertainment, Chloe, Handbags & Accessories with tags , , on April 24, 2010 by Alan + Mei-Mei the pug

When I first lay my eyes on Chloe’s new “IT” bag the “Marcie” tote, I was immediately fell in love with it! The unique shape of the bag yet very roomy to fit lots of stuff, the super soft leather and the flap details at the front of the bag with all the contrast topstitching…. Everything is just perfect! So I had to call my favorite store Bergdorf Goodman to get one! And I just receive the bag today!! So I will post a photo of me carrying it to do a little “Show & tell” for y’all !

The Marcie tote comes in 3 sizes, small, medium and large. I got the Large one and think it’s just the perfect size for a male fashionista to carry to work, shopping in the city or head to the Hamptons for a little get away in the weekends! Also this is such a classic shape (Not like some of Chloe’s more trendy bags that will only be good for period of time then it’s last season’s news!) that it will be fashionable & classic season after season!

This bag has matte finished gold-tone hardware, two wrap-detailed top handles, stitch-detailed fold-over flap at front with a buckle and strap to fasten and a welt pocket underneath, a zip fastening at top, designer-stamped zip-pull, designer logo discreetly embossed at front, internal zipped and pouch pockets and is fully lined in light-brown canvas.

Large: 17” (44cm) W x 14” (35cm) H x 6” (15cm) D

Small: 13″ (33cm) W x 10″ (25cm) H x 5″ (15cm) D

Many of the Hollywood celebrities has already snatch up this fabulous new “It” bag !

Jessica Alba
Katie Holmes
Rachel Bilson

If you really want to treat yourself, the Chloe Marcie tote is also available in Alligator / Crocodile! Here is the size difference between small & large. I personally likes the Large !

If you are interested in getting this fabulous tote, there are couple stores you can get it online

Size small: Nordstrom.com (Click here to visit the store)

Large: all online stores are all sold out the size Large, but my favorite store Bergdorf Goodman in NYC still has the large in many colors! Call Bergdorf Goodman’s handbag specialist Jesse Kopischke (212) 872-2519 to get the size large.

Ok, as promised, here is the photo of me modeling my new large Marcie tote in my office! I LOVE this bag !

Ok girls, this is the real deal!! a fashion spy birdie just told us! The secret Manolo Blahnik Spring sale is back and Andre Leon Taley is the host for the event. Now get your credit cards ready, put your foot on the gas and hold on to your pumps. We hear that this season’s sale will feature Vogue’s contributing editor and America’s Next Top Model judge, Andre Leon Talley. At previous sample sales leather heels started at $100. Usually the morning of the sale is reserved for press and insiders and the afternoon is open to the public.

For those of you who are unnerved by sample sale crowds ( like the infamous Barneys New York warehouse sale! Yes you can find great designer goods in bargain price there, But if you have been to the Barneys Warehouse sale then you know how scary those female (or fabulous gays) shopper could be! Everyone is like on a mission, pushing, elbowing to name a few to get their well manicured hands on that Balenciaga it bag or Helmut Lang Jeans!) or you do not live in the city I love, New York City, then take a browse through your local Saks Off 5th outlet store. We recently found the shoe department to be very well stocked with Manolos and all priced in the $200 range. I know it’s not as glamorous as going to the Manolo sale in NYC, It’s not a $100 and there’s no Andre Leon Talley but we found patent leather, high heel, Marry Janes and they come with a return option. (Not all of us are as rich as the Sex and the city girls right?! )

So write this down on to your blackberry , refrigerator and on your bathroom mirror to remind yourself of this event !!

So here is a little history about the famous “Lady Dior” handbag. It comes in various of sizes from delicate mini size that’s perfect for evening galas to the big weekend shopping bag, here is the size chart of the 3 most popular size Medium, Large and XLarge.  I personally have the XLarge Lady Dior shopper bag, it’s HUGE! perfect size for the male fahionistas to carry to work!

My New Favorite Dark Glamour Designer Since Alexander McQueen Passed Away – Haider Ackermann

Posted in Fashion, Gothic Chic & Dark Glamour with tags , , , on April 9, 2010 by Alan + Mei-Mei the pug

I am officially a loyal fan of Haider Ackermann’s designs! Ever since my favorite Alexander McQueen has passed away last month, there was a “void” in me that is seeking a new designer that as equally talented and the designs are truly unique that takes our breath away…. And I think I’ve found it, Aider Ackermann !

The master draper, the rumoured Margiela replacement, and the man who calls Tilda Swinton muse. Who exactly is this Columbian, Belgian-trained designer who has taken his place on the Parisian fashion circuit?

Actress Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackermann

One of Antwerp Belgium’s brightest young stars, Haider Ackermann has seen many more ports than the one fronting the town in which he now lives and works. Born in Santa Fe de Bogotá, Colombia, in 1971, he was adopted by a French family. Due to his father’s business obligations, he spent his childhood moving around the globe.

After living in Ethiopia, Chad, France, Algeria and the Netherlands, he decided fashion was his vocation. High school finished, he left home in 1994 and headed for Belgium to study at the fashion department of Antwerp’s Royal Academy. During his three-year stay (he left the four-year course prematurely because of financial difficulties), he also worked as an intern at John Galliano’s Paris office.

Taking a job as an assistant to his former academy teacher Wim Neels in 1998, he worked on both the men’s and womenswear collections of the Belgian designer. After saving money and taking encouragement from his friends and acquaintances –among them Raf Simons – Ackermann finally took the plunge and presented his first, self- financed women’s collection in Paris for autumn/winter 2002.

His subtle, dignified and sensuous clothes immediately struck a chord with buyers and editors, as they did with Italian leather manufacturer Ruffo. Just two weeks after his debut show, Ackermann was hired as the head designer for Ruffo Research and commissioned to create two collections (spring/ summer and autumn/ winter 2003), while continuing to produce his own line.

Ackermann is now receiving even wider acclaim, not least in the form of the prestigious Swiss Textiles Award at the 2004 Grand Fashion Festival. Ackermann’s sensitivity with drape and textures shows through in every collection.

In his fall winter 2010 collection shown at the Paris fashion week last month (March 7th 2010) Ackermann showcased his signature fitted leather and suede vests and jackets are back, but this time with even more drama. That’s thanks to both long, undulating collars that can be wrapped around the neck any number of ways and zipped-on peplums that are easily detached, should the woman wearing them so choose.

“I wanted it to be totally up to you,” Ackermann said backstage, alluding to the clothes’ timely utilitarianism. On the bottom, his fans’ options will include, as usual, leather leggings or floor-scraping skirts with deep slits, along with new, more tailored trousers. It was a beautiful show that I am speechless by his talent & vision.

Click on the video player below to see his Fall Winter 2010 fashion show

I hope you enjoy Haider Ackermann’s creations as much as I do! Until next time, be well & look fabulous!

Shabby Chic Easter Table Crafts & Favors – Paper-Napkin Decoupage Eggs Martha Stewart Style

Posted in Art & Music, Celebrity & Entertainment with tags , , , on April 4, 2010 by Alan + Mei-Mei the pug

Today is the Easter Holiday & I would like to wish all of our Christian & Catholic readers a Happy Easter & to our Jewish readers, Happy Passover!  So in this blog posting, we would like to share with you one of my favorite way to decorate the Easters eggs that I’ve learned from the domestic diva Martha Stewart! So join us with this super fun project & brighten a clutch of undyed eggs with stylized patterns from paper napkins, then tuck them into chipboard baskets to give as Easter favors.

No need for meticulous cutting: A loose trim around the designs will do, as the napkins’ edges will blend into the eggshells.

Chipboard baskets, packed with the colorful creations and holiday sweets, are decorated with coordinating tags.

Blow Out Eggs

1. Pierce both ends of a raw egg using the tip of a sharp craft knife. Twist knife gently in holes to widen them slightly, with bottom hole a bit larger.

2. Poke a straightened paper clip into the larger hole; pierce yolk, and stir.

3. Hold egg, larger hole down, over a bowl. Insert the tip of a rubber ear syringe (available at drugstores) into smaller hole. Blow air into egg to expel its contents. Rinse egg with warm water; drain. Blow air into egg again. Let dry.

Paper-Napkin Decoupage How-To

1. Trim loosely around the designs on a white napkin using small scissors. Separate printed top layer; discard lower sheets.

2. Coat part of a blown-out white egg (or a white paper tag) with Mod Podge using a small brush. Apply 1 cutout design to egg (or tag); smooth with brush. Let dry. Repeat, adding designs as desired.

3. Apply Mod Podge with a medium brush to entire egg (or tag). Let dry

Clinique Fresh Bloom Luminizer – Gives You a Instant 10 Hours Sleep Rested Look & Healthy Glow

Posted in Beauty & Health with tags , , , on April 2, 2010 by Alan + Mei-Mei the pug

Is your skin looking dull, lack of that “Healthy Glow” due to not have enough sleep because of working late or went to that all night party (yes we’ve all been to those all night party that was super fun at the time but next day you look like a panda bear with dark circle under your eyes?!). Well for me, I often stay up late working on my projects till 2AM or later, so times when I woke up in the morning, my skin looks like shit! So I was on this mission to find a product that can give me an “Instant” healthy glow and I found Clinique Fresh Bloom Allover Color Compact.

I LOVE this product! It’s like an instant “10 Hours of Sleep in the box” ! you just brush very little amount all over your face it gives you that healthy glow like magic!! It’s so subtle, no one knows you are wearing anything but I’ve received compliments about how good my skin looks and I look rested! This is perfect for some of our male fashionistas ,too! Most of the bronzer or Luminizer are either too sparkly ( looks like you just dip your face into a bowl of glitter, which is not pretty!) or just look too heavy once it put on, but this Clinique Fresh Bloom Allover Color Compact is so subtle no one knows you are wearing anything!

To our girl fashionistas, this compact is a all in one make up in the box, too! You can either brush it all over your face ( if you want to apply more layers, it gives you more noticeable “Glow” effect) also can be use as blush & eye shadow! We have a photo courtesy of make-up artist “Whitney” who did a little demonstration to show you how it looks like on the skin. She put couple layers on so it looks more like a “Color Make-Up” but for our male fashionistas, just only use 1 layer all over your face then no one will know you are wearing anything, only just notice your awesome “Glow” & had a “Full night sleep” effect!

This fabulous compact is available at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Sephora and most of the stores all over the world! When you have time, go to your local department store to check it out, it is so fabulous I just LOVE it! I have a medium skin color and “Almond Blossom” works perfect !

Until next time, be well and look fabulous!

XOXO
