On November 14th, Barneys New York unveiled their 2012 holiday campaign, the Electric Holiday film in collaboration with Disney and will decorate its Madison Avenue flagship store windows in 3-D lights! Brought to life by the brilliant minds at the Walt Disney Company (with a helping hand from AOL, Air France and Christie MicroTiles), the film offers a peek at the high-fashion world through the eyes of the ever-stylish Minnie Mouse.

Watch as Minnie travel to the world of Haute Couture on a fantastical fashion adventure in Paris, where she was personally dressed by the head designer of Lanvin Alber Elbaz and sashay down the runway and rubs elbows with fashion-world figures like supermodel Linda Evangelista & Naomi Campbell, Heiress Daphne Guinness, pop star Lady Gaga and many more. It’s the perfect combination of wit, fantasy and style perfectly reflecting the image of Barneys New York!

Lady Gaga Fame Perfume First Ever Black Eau de Parfum Smells like Tears of Belladonna

Posted in Art & Music, Beauty & Health, Celebrity & Entertainment, Fashion with tags , , , on September 14, 2012 by Alan + Mei-Mei the pug

Every celebrity when they hit a certain popularity, it’s almost like a status symbol to have your own fragrance collection and a fragrance name after you. Most of them we’ve seen from Britney Spears “Fantasy” a sweet, princess-ish scent to Mariah Carrey’s “M by Mariah Carey” that has a butterfly as the bottle cap almost a little tacky! but I am impressed how lady gaga does her perfume, never-before-seen Black Eau De Parfum !

Simplistic design of oval black bottle with gold claw! and the short film to advertise the perfume was done in a black and white French Gothic futuristic Tron feeling horror film style. Hey, what did you really expect Lady gaga do anything in the normal way?

Marissa Webb Spring 2013 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week

Posted in Fashion with tags on September 9, 2012 by Alan + Mei-Mei the pug

The former head of women’s design at J. Crew, Marissa Webb’s Spring Summer 2013 debut collection was utterly fabulous! If you think her own collection will probably look much similar to J. Crew, then you’re wrong! Her own collection has more an “Urban Fairytale” magic to it, a much cleaner and crisper form & lines that’s totally all American minimalistic chic with an European sensibility to it.

I love the everyday casual luxury looks she has presented in this collection, I especially love how she use the contrast of crisp black & white color & lines mix with a splash of vibrant colors, combining tough hard look & feel of leather with soft chiffon dress. Her collection has the ultimate uptown chic with downtown cool feel to it!

R.I.P Vidal Sassoon “If You Don’t Look Good, We Don’t Look Good” Hairstyle Guru Died Today at Age 84

Posted in Beauty & Health, Fashion on September 9, 2012 by Alan + Mei-Mei the pug

The Hairstylist guru Vidal Sassoon passed away in his Beverly Hills home today 5-9-2012 at age 84. When my mother was still a young girl back in the 1950s, women’s hair was heavily styled, curled, teased into a shape that doesn’t move and almost looks like you’re wearing a helmet! until Vidal Sassoon came along in the 1960s, his creative vision revolutionize how women dress their hairs & set the complete new look in the world of fashion.

What made Vidal Sassoon’s cut so revolutionary was his creative cuts that require almost no styling necessery!, you can just “Wash & Wear” and everything will just fell into place perfectly every time! He has liberated women all over the world & unshackled them from curling irons & hairsprays.

Behind The Big Hair & Sparkling Dresses of Barbie – The 52 Years of Positive Influence for Young Girls

Posted in Art & Music, Celebrity & Entertainment, Fashion with tags , , , on January 17, 2012 by Alan + Mei-Mei the pug

I adored Barbie since I was a kid! I loved dressing them in sparkling gowns and big puffy skirts. But behind all that blond hairs, perfect Malibu tan & beautiful couture dresses of Barbie, there is a very powerful message that sends a positive influence to young girls all over the world “We girls can do anything! just like Barbie!”, no dream is too big & nothing and no one can stop you to reach for your dream!

My very first Barbie was the “Crystal Fantasy Barbie”. My Barbies had boxes brimming with tulle tutus, stylish suits, and pretty-in-pink dresses. Also her shinny blonde hair that I can came up with thousands of ways to style her hair, what a great memories it was!

I know many people complains about “Oh Barbie is too thin, makes little girl have self image issues…” but to me, they were fashionable, strong independent women who can do and be anything she wanted! Which I think it has bring lots of positive influence to young girls to role play on their dreams and knowing that she can be a Doctor, Rock Star or even an Astronaut! Nothing can stop her to be who she wants to be just like Barbie!

When my “Presidential Barbie” ran for President, nobody wondered if the world was ready for a female in the White House (Maybe that’s why I wanted Hillary to win the white house in this past presidential election LOL).
